IJAZ FASHION DIARY

FASHION DESIGNING PORTFOLIO ~ By IASHA HORNE

Fashion is a total Look, total Concept, total Philosophy and total Ideas!!!! I AM FASHION!

To be a good fashion designer, you dont necessarily have to be good at drawing. Some designers dont sketch at all, they jus look at fabric. How ever, you need imagination and practical knowledge of how clothes are made. Having the ability to make your clothes can be a great advantage.
If you want to become a Professional Fashion Designer, the best way is to study fashion design at a collage. As well as teaching you about the technical and artistic side of the subject, some courses include a year of working in the fashion industry,to give students the taste of commercial fashion design.Others offer a chance to visit fashion houses abroad.
But for me~ ive never attended to any fashion colleges, ive only attended small fashion course here in St vincent -which open up my knowledge more about the fashion industry.

Within this blog, i will be sharing my knowledge of presenting a proper Fashion Portfolio:

To be a sucessful fashion designing-you first gotta find your inspiration. Then do some indept research about your inspiration!
Then put together a mood board and fabric board-putting together all inspirational matrials, research, magazine pictures, anything that stands out to you, and may be helpful to your project development.look at the different types of textures, colours, patterns and what material will be suitable for your line.
Your developmental project must always be going in one direction.never make it confusing and hard to understand the story behind your pieces. When designing it wise to draw one main sketch and from that sketch see how many different designs you can get from that first  sketch. IT REALLY WORK!
Work must always be done neat and tidy at all times! Never date your pieces, just incase you mite present your project at a later date from when it was actually done.
Your goal must always be presenting a proper collection.its also wise never to always colour all your pieces cause you mite just have a change of colour and material.always leave space for the unexpected.
Then youll decided how much pieces youll like to display in you collection......then choose carefully the ones that stands out and very unique.
Do a break down of what your outfit should look like on a person and also the flats. This will help making it much easier..add the material being used, the notions and any small details the seamtress or your self shoud no.help others to see what you see and feels when you put your collection together.

Then final:Take the measurement of the size you desire, buy the relavant materials needed. Measure/draw out the pattern  and cut out the flats.lay on the fabric cut. then head on over to the seamtress or your sewing machine and work your magic!
Enjoy!

"Even if you dont have a studio, set up a workplace somewhere and keep an ongoing project easily at hand.go to it when ever time permits:drawing for 10 to 30 minutes a day is better than 1 hour a week.Remember:Do not think your drawing should be immediately perfect, just make them a little better each time you work. you may have great ideas but without the discipline of drawing, they will be difficult to realize.Wish you much sucess!"
